Description


The General Administration of Libraries and Publications is responsible for providing books, references, periodicals, and scientific journals, and for organizing the use of university libraries by providing all publications and various information centers and publications.


The administration exercises its functions through the following administrative offices:


1- Office of Library and Documentation Affairs


This office is responsible for implementing the technical systems related to library management, including book classification and cataloging, managing lending, and monitoring new publications. It also works to equip libraries with appropriate resources, maintains and supervises study halls to provide a suitable environment for reading, and submits helpful proposals for improving library services. Furthermore, it prepares detailed statistics on book circulation in the library, participates in and benefits from book fairs, and oversees the university's book storage facilities, ensuring the availability of all new publications.


2- Supply and Distribution Office


This office is responsible for identifying the libraries' needs for books, publications, references, and scientific journals. It handles all procedures related to accreditation, customs clearance, and documentation of all supplies. It also participates in local and international exhibitions, stays informed about all scientific publications, and facilitates their use.


3- Printing, Publishing, and Scientific Journals Office


This office is responsible for implementing research programs, submitting related proposals, monitoring committees formed to implement these programs, and overseeing the editing and authorship of books. It also reviews evaluation committees, submits proposals to encourage research and authorship, and monitors the publication process. This includes receiving, printing, and publishing manuscripts, and monitoring their marketing both within and outside the university. The office also proposes financial rewards for research and publishing activities in accordance with regulations.


The responsibilities of office directors can be outlined as follows:


Director of Library Affairs


This director is responsible for overseeing library affairs, including supplying books and other resources, and preparing the necessary statistics on book circulation within the library. They also supervise study halls and ensure they are adequately equipped. This includes monitoring all books published by various publishing houses, overseeing the work of the Book Supply, Purchase, and Printing Committee, and managing its tenders.


Director of the Printing and Publishing Office


This director is responsible for publishing, printing, and editing; monitoring authorship and publishing activities; collecting manuscripts from authors; overseeing the publication, printing, and marketing of academic journals; and proposing financial rewards for editing and authorship work in accordance with regulations. They also follow up on the decisions of the University Textbook Committee, which is responsible for receiving, publishing, and printing manuscripts.


Supply and Distribution Office


This office is responsible for identifying the libraries' needs for books and academic references, and for carrying out all procedures related to providing these needs. They also handle opening lines of credit for supplying these needs and manage customs clearance.


Systems Supervisor in the Administration


This supervisor is responsible for monitoring systems and computers, performing routine maintenance, and working to improve library services by upgrading the systems.


Book and Publications Warehouse Supervisor


This supervisor is responsible for receiving books and publications, managing the documentation process within the warehouse, and monitoring the disbursement of books and publications according to administrative procedures.


Central Library


The Central Library holds a special place within the university due to the services it provides to students, faculty, and researchers. It assists students in accessing resources and references that aid their studies and self-education. It also supports faculty in fulfilling their teaching and research responsibilities, and its collection of books is comprehensive.

Branch Libraries


In its commitment to providing access to resources and better services for faculty members, students, and researchers, the university has established branch libraries for the following colleges:


Sharia, Fundamentals of Religion, and Quranic Readings.


The Central Library supplies these branch libraries with collections of various books and references, arranging them in their designated locations.
